Frequently Asked Questions

What instruments do you service? +

We service the full range of band instruments: flutes, piccolos, clarinets, saxophones, oboes, bassoons, trumpets, cornets, French horns, trombones, tubas, sousaphones, and more. Whether it's a student-grade Yamaha or a vintage Selmer, the work is handled at the same level.

What don't you service? +

A handful of services fall outside our shop's current tooling: full re-lacquer, silver plating, valve rebuilds, and full tenon replacement. If your repair needs work in those areas, we'll tell you upfront and refer you to a shop we trust to do it right.

How does shipping insurance work? +

Inbound (you to us): You're responsible for shipping and insurance on the way in. We'll provide packing guidance and recommended insurance values. UPS or FedEx with signature required is what we recommend. We don't accept USPS shipments.

Outbound (us to you): Once we receive your instrument, it's fully insured during repair and on the return shipment. Return shipping and insurance are built into your quote. No surprise fees.

How do you determine the value of my instrument? +

For production instruments, replacement value is usually straightforward. For vintage, rare, or custom-modified instruments, we recommend providing a recent appraisal, insurance rider documentation, or purchase records at intake. If you don't have any of those, we'll help you work through comparable sales and arrive at a fair replacement value before anything ships. This protects both of us in the rare event of damage or loss.

What's your warranty policy? +

We back our work with a six-month adjustment guarantee. If anything related to the work we performed needs a tweak in the first six months, ship it back and we'll make it right. No questions, no extra labor charges. You cover return shipping; we cover everything else.

What if you find additional work that wasn't in the original quote? +

It happens. Once an instrument is on the bench, we sometimes find issues that weren't obvious from photos. If the additional work is minor, we'll often include it. If it's significant, we stop, call or email you with the new scope and pricing, and wait for your approval before continuing. You're never billed for work you didn't authorize.

How long does the whole process take? +

Once your instrument reaches our bench, your detailed estimate comes back within 48 business hours. Most repair work is completed within one week of approval. Overhauls and complex jobs can run one to two weeks. Add shipping time on both ends. Rush options may be available on request.

Do I need to pay anything upfront? +

No deposit is required to request a quote. Once you've approved your estimate, we'll send shipping instructions and collect payment when the work is complete and ready to ship back.

We know what it means to ship the one you love.

Handing your instrument to a carrier is the hard part. Here's how it's protected, every step of the way.

In our care

The moment it reaches us, your instrument is covered under our shop's insurance the entire time it's with us.

Home again, fully insured

We ship it back fully insured for its value and cover the return trip. If anything happened along the way, you're made whole. Nothing to pay, nothing to arrange.

The trip to us

We'll guide you on packing and insuring it for the ride in, so it's covered door to door.

Packed like it's ours

When the work's done, we pack it the way we'd pack our own. UPS or FedEx, signature required.

Questions about any of it? Ask before you ship. We'd rather over-explain than have you worry.

Ready to ship?

Tell us about your instrument and we'll get right back to you with how to send it our way.
